We were so excited to get the I800A approval letter in the mail on Saturday. That set up the week just as I had hoped it would be. The boys and I left early Monday morning to go to our local courthouse and get the I800A notarized and county certified. Then, we stopped to pick up a money order for the consulate. Next, we picked up Mom and breakfast and headed to Gwinnett. Our homestudy was notarized by a notary public from Gwinnett, so I had to go there to get it county certified. That place is a whole lot bigger than our little county courthouse, but we were in and out fairly quickly. Then we headed downtown to the Secretary of State's office. Once we finally got to the office (through the parking deck, down the elevator, over the skywalk, in the building, up the wrong elevator, potty break, back down, across to the other tower and up the correct elevator with Mom, three boys walking and one in the stroller), it was a simple 5-10 minute wait, and our documents were state certified. Whew! Afterwards, we went across the street and toured the capitol building. That was fun and educational, but forget the political science lesson, the boys favorite part was the two headed calf and two headed snake on display. The senators and representatives were out for lunch, so the place was pretty busy. We ate lunch downtown and headed to FedEx. After triple checking everything, we dropped off the papers and celebrated.

The papers went from there to Houston to the Chinese consulate for authentication. And from there, they headed to California to our agency. She got them today and sent it on to China!
Next step: LID (logged in date) - this happens when China receives our dossier and logs it into their system

Wow! What a post and what a day! I love the sound of "our little girl." And, seems like seeing the two-headed calf and snake was in fact a perfect polic sci lesson!
